About

The Wild Horse Project is a registered charity based in Kerikeri, Northland, dedicated to managing, rescuing, and rehoming wild horses in the Far North of New Zealand. Founded by trainer Chloe Phillips-Harris, the initiative conducts regular musters of wild herds living along Te Oneroa-a-Tohe, also known as Ninety Mile Beach, and surrounding forestry. The organisation provides veterinary treatment, supplementary feed, handling, and gentle taming for wild horses of all ages, from newborn foals to mature stallions. Rescued horses are prepared for domestic life and made available for adoption. The Wild Horse Project also runs educational events at its Kerikeri base, including open days, private lessons, and multi-day wild horse handling workshops for spectators and handlers. Funding is supported through workshop bookings, public donations, and business sponsorships.
