How Featured works

Some listings on horse.work are shown in a small, labelled “Featured” block above the normal list on town, state and category pages. This page explains who gets that, what it means, and what it never changes.

What Featured is

Featured is a placement, not a rating and not a recommendation. A Featured card always carries a label saying why it is there: “Free introductory placement”, “Paid placement” or “Complimentary placement”. Featured never changes a business's reviews, rating, awards or position in search results.

Free introductory placement

There is no free introductory period running at the moment. When there is one, it will have a stated end date, and a business that has claimed and verified its listing and completed it can appear in the Featured block marked “Free introductory placement”.

• No card is taken and nothing is charged during the free period.
• It never turns into a paid plan on its own. If we ever start charging for Featured, we will email the business at least 60 days beforehand, and it only becomes paid if the business chooses to subscribe.
• You can opt out any time from your dashboard. Your listing stays in the normal list.
• Each page has only a few Featured places (three by default). The businesses shown change every day, a business appears at most once on a page, and two listings that share a website count as one business.
• Free introductory Featured does not include Get matched introductions.

Paid and complimentary placement

Paid Featured is not on sale yet. If and when it is, those cards will be labelled “Paid placement”, and links to paid businesses' websites will be marked as sponsored for search engines. A “Complimentary placement” is one we have given a business at no charge, for example as a courtesy.

What Featured does not change

• Reviews, ratings and awards are never for sale and are not affected by Featured.
• The normal list is in our usual order, and search results are not boosted.
• horse.work is run by Design Box Digital Pty Ltd, which may list its own business. Its own listing is not in the free Featured places.

What we count

We keep daily totals of clicks on a business's website, phone and email links and of enquiries sent through horse.work, so a business can see how many came while it was Featured and how many at other times. The totals carry no names, addresses, cookies or other visitor details. See our privacy policy.
