About
Hawkez Haven is an independent equine rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming service located on a private property in Ashhurst, near Palmerston North in the Manawatū region. Operating under the guiding principle of connection before correction, the rescue accepts horses via owner surrenders, off-the-track Thoroughbred transitions, and welfare cases. Each horse receives individualized care covering veterinary triage, nutritional planning, farrier work, dental attention, bodywork, and patient groundwork. When horses are ready, the organisation arranges adoptions to thoroughly vetted homes, while unadoptable equines remain as permanent residents or teaching horses. Hawkez Haven also provides equine education, including visits by appointment, groundwork coaching, horsemanship clinics, and learning experiences for home-educated children. Support is facilitated through volunteer days, horse sponsorships, and charitable donations.
